Services à la vie étudiante de l’Université de Montréal

Goal
Design of a unilingual French Mobile First website for the Services à la vie étudiante de l’Université de Montréal.

Context
Our team redesigned the ecosystem of the Services à la vie étudiante de l’Université de Montréal to unify all its services under a single platform. Preliminary work carried out by another team guided us during the project’s initial phase, which involved finalizing the site structure and creating the UX framework. This process had to incorporate the findings from quantitative and qualitative research conducted with students and internal teams.

UX design
We then proceeded to create the Mobile First templates. The work takes into account technical SEO, information architecture and structured data. The burger menu is used in the same way on desktop and mobile. It frees the page header from cumbersome information. It also facilitates navigation through the different menu levels. A home page viewer highlights important information.

UI design
We created two graphic mockup proposals to better define the visual identity. The templates incorporate the recently updated color palette by UdeM. Along with the brand’s vibrant blue, an expanded palette featuring navy blue, yellow, orange, and green brings the website to life. The final look is clean and easy to read. Curves on opposite corners of images add a personalized touch.

Result
The website centralizes student services. It is easy to use on cell phones. The platform features calendar and catalog views of events, activities and training courses. It also features a powerful search tool, blog articles and promotional banner management. All of which meets web accessibility requirements.
